How to Block Apple Settings
In this guide, you'll learn how to make it even harder to bypass Locked by blocking the Settings app.
Step 1: Set Up the Automation Trigger
-
Open the Shortcuts app and tap the Automation tab at the bottom.
-
Tap the + (plus icon) in the top right corner.
-
Scroll down and select App from the list of triggers.
-
Beside App, tap Choose and select the Settings app. Tap Done.
-
Ensure Is Opened is checked.
-
Select Run Immediately.
-
Toggle Notify When Run to OFF to ensure the transition is seamless.
-
Tap Next.
Step 2: Define the Redirect Action
-
Select New Blank Automation.
-
Tap Add Action.
-
In the search bar, type Open App and select the action.
-
Tap the blue App variable inside the action and search for Shortcuts.
-
Select Shortcuts so the action reads: "Open Shortcuts".
-
Tap Done in the top right corner.
Step 3: Add Shortcuts to your Blocked App List
-
Block the Shortcuts app in Locked
-
Since the Shortcuts app is where this automation is managed, you must now open your Locked app and add Shortcuts to your blocked list.
-
This prevents anyone from simply opening the Settings app, as you will be instantly redirected to the now-blocked Shortcuts app.
